MK Tzvi Sukkot Urges IDF to Remove Terrorist Memorials in West Bank

MK Tzvi Sukkot addressed the recent incident involving the destruction of a terrorist memorial near him, calling on the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to remove similar monuments throughout Judea and Samaria (the West Bank). In an interview on Galei Yisrael radio, Sukkot explained that he was aware of the memorial prior to the event and had already contacted the IDF weeks earlier, urging them to act against it. He expressed strong opposition to honoring individuals who murdered Jews, stating, "I cannot accept a reality where people who killed Jews have their names displayed as if they were heroes."

Sukkot criticized the IDF for not taking initiative sooner, emphasizing that the removal of such memorials does not require a complex operation. He described the task as straightforward, saying, "All it takes is arriving with the brigade's bulldozer, three minutes, and the job is done." He further argued that a systematic campaign to eliminate these monuments across dozens of villages could effectively end the phenomenon.

In response to the controversy, some right-wing voices condemned Sukkot's stance, asserting that he is not the authority in Judea and Samaria. Nonetheless, Sukkot remains firm in his call for the IDF to act decisively against the glorification of terrorists in the region.
