MK Tzvi Sukkot Demands IDF Remove Terrorist Memorials in Madama Village

MK Tzvi Sukkot, chairman of the Subcommittee on Judea and Samaria Affairs, visited the entrance to the West Bank village of Madama near Yitzhar on Friday. He called on the Israel Defense Forces to dismantle memorials honoring terrorists in the village, following a report by The Jewish Voice exposing a recent event commemorating a senior terrorist. The event included distributing ice pops to children in memory of "martyr" Yaman Faraj, the military leader of the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, the armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine during the Second Intifada, who was involved in multiple attacks against Israelis.

Sukkot condemned the glorification of terrorists, stating that it influences the younger generation to view the murder of Jews as heroism and a legacy to aspire to. He referenced the murder of 19-year-old Adva Fisher, who was killed by a terrorist from Madama solely because she was Jewish, emphasizing the ongoing pain inflicted on Israeli families by terror originating from the village. Sukkot vowed to continue his efforts until the memorials are removed, asserting that incitement to terror will not be tolerated and promising to return repeatedly to ensure action is taken.

The call to remove the memorials highlights ongoing tensions in the region regarding the commemoration of terrorists and the impact on Israeli security and society. Sukkot's demand places pressure on the IDF to act against such symbols in Palestinian villages in the West Bank.
