US Advisers Warn Israel Over Rising Nationalist Violence Amid Controversial Monument Vandalism

A delegation of senior US government advisers visiting Israel has delivered a stern warning to Israeli security officials regarding the surge in nationalist violence in the West Bank. The advisers emphasized that American support should not be taken for granted if such violent acts against Palestinians continue, cautioning that "it will come back to you through the back door." This message was conveyed repeatedly during meetings with top Israeli defense figures.

The visit coincides with heightened tensions following a provocative incident involving Israeli Member of Knesset Tzvi Sukkot, who personally destroyed a monument commemorating Palestinian militants in the village of Madama, south of Nablus. Although the monument honored individuals labeled as terrorists, the act was widely seen as undermining Israel's efforts to combat Jewish terrorism and came at a sensitive time.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently convened an emergency discussion on the issue at the request of the US, reflecting Washington's growing concern. Israeli Ambassador to the US, Yechiel Leiter, warned that Israel risks losing international allies due to the escalation of Jewish extremist violence. The US delegation's criticism aligns with Israeli military concerns, particularly within the Central Command, about the legitimacy and potential destabilization caused by these actions in the West Bank.
