West Nile Virus-Carrying Mosquitoes Found in Multiple Israeli Regions; 17 Infected

Israeli authorities have detected mosquitoes infected with the West Nile virus in several areas across the country, including the Jezreel Valley Regional Council in the north, Emek Hefer Regional Council in the center, and Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council in the south. The Ministry of Health reported that 17 people have been diagnosed with West Nile fever, with one fatality attributed to the disease.

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Environmental Protection urged the public to assist in controlling the spread by following guidelines such as eliminating standing water sources, using mosquito repellents, and reporting mosquito nuisances or stagnant water in public areas to local authorities via hotline 106. These measures aim to reduce mosquito breeding grounds and limit further infections.
