Gideon Sa'ar Condemns MK Tzvi Sukkot's Unauthorized Actions in West Bank Village

On Tuesday, Israeli politician Gideon Sa'ar criticized Knesset member Tzvi Sukkot for his actions during a visit to the West Bank village of Ma'adama. Sa'ar emphasized that decisions and operations in the West Bank must be made and executed solely by the Israeli government and security forces, stating, "MK Tzvi Sukkot, like any other Knesset member, is not sovereign in the territories of Judea and Samaria." He further condemned Sukkot for knowingly acting contrary to this principle, urging elected officials to convey this message through their conduct.

The criticism followed an incident in Ma'adama where Sukkot, accompanied by aides and under IDF security, participated in a "memorial tour." During the visit, Sukkot was filmed destroying a memorial dedicated to Yaman Faraj, a commander of the Abu Ali Mustapha Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, who was killed by the IDF. The IDF spokesperson stated that the demolition of the memorial violated the approved guidelines for the tour. The military reported that the participants acted deceitfully and manipulatively without authorization and against the agreed framework. Upon recognizing the situation, IDF forces were instructed to stop the actions and remove the participants from the village.

This event has sparked debate over the authority and conduct of public officials in sensitive areas, with Sa'ar underscoring the importance of maintaining state control and security protocols in the West Bank.
