Hamas has increased its pressure on countries mediating between Israel and Gaza, demanding they issue a public statement accusing Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, according to a report by Channel 12. This surge in pressure peaked over the past weekend, with Hamas pushing for an official denunciation of Israel. Israeli security officials believe this move serves two main purposes: to prevent the planned disarmament of Hamas within Gaza, which remains delayed, and to preemptively justify escalating attacks against Israeli Defense Forces operating in the area.

Alongside these diplomatic efforts, Israel is experiencing heightened operational alertness. The IDF conducted a broad wave of strikes in Gaza last week. Concurrently, Israeli security agencies are increasingly concerned about the resurgence of incendiary kites and balloons launched toward Israeli communities near Gaza. In the past 24 hours, four such devices were detected in the Gaza envelope region. Intelligence assessments indicate Hamas is directly orchestrating these launches, often using children and teenagers to test Israeli response patterns and gather intelligence.

For the first time since the 2018-2019 balloon wave, residents near Gaza have been instructed not to approach or touch any kites, balloons, or drones they spot. Security officials warn these airborne devices could soon be equipped with explosives. They explained that the long strings used to fly the kites also serve to collect intelligence for potential large-scale drone attacks.
