This move aims to emphasize Hezbollah's connections to the Iranian government. According to a statement obtained by Reuters, the US Treasury Department will designate Hezbollah under this category due to its service to the Iranian regime, specifically under the command of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. A US official explained that the reclassification is intended to demonstrate that Hezbollah operates on behalf of the Iranian government and to update the public registry linking the terrorist organization to Tehran.
