Israeli Court Extends Detention of Suspects in Eldar Dayan Murder-Linked Brawl

The Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court extended the detention of five suspects involved in a brawl preceding the murder of Eldar Dayan until Monday. Police indicated during the hearing that the suspects are suspected of causing serious injury to Dayan during the attack, which led to his death hours later. Six individuals are suspected in the case; four were arrested this week for involvement in the brawl, while two others, friends of Dayan, are suspected of involvement in his death.

Avi Cohen, a public defender representing one of the suspects arrested for involvement in the brawl, stated that the police requested an eight-day extension of his client's detention. However, the court accepted the defense's argument that the suspect had no connection to the murder and ordered only a minimal two-day extension. Cohen added that his client was attacked and injured in the face by others and denied any involvement beyond the initial altercation, expressing confidence that his client would soon be released.

Last Thursday, investigative sources told Kan News that forensic evidence could not conclusively determine the cause of Dayan's death. Investigators suggested Dayan may have been injured during the confrontation and died while fleeing. Bloodstains found in Dayan's vehicle did not match his or the suspects' blood, making it impossible to establish a murder case based on stabbing or shooting. The case remains under investigation amid dramatic testimonies and conflicting accounts from Dayan's friends.
