Israeli Police Add Assault Charges in Eldar Dayan Death Investigation

Israeli police are seeking to extend the detention of four suspects involved in a fight linked to the disappearance and death of Eldar Dayan. The suspects, Yosef Wobnech, Angada Sisay, Almkan Adona, and Moshe Reta, face two additional charges: assault causing actual bodily harm and simple assault by two or more individuals. Previously, they were charged with serious injury, conspiracy to commit a crime, assault causing bodily harm by multiple perpetrators, brawling, and intentional damage to a vehicle.

The case began on July 16 when 23-year-old Eldar Dayan from Dimona sent a final message to his girlfriend before losing contact. After three weeks of searching, Israeli police found his body on August 6. The suspects had been questioned early on at the Petah Tikva police station regarding their involvement in the fight, but at that time Dayan was still missing and his body had not been found.

Following the discovery of Dayan's body and the transfer of the case to the Sharon District Investigation Unit, investigators reopened the fight as part of the death inquiry. Police stated that the initial assault suspicions have now escalated to a suspected murder, leading to a covert investigation that uncovered new details. The police will present their request for an eight-day extension of the suspects' detention to the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court today, Thursday.
