Ashdod Nears Signing of Hapoel Kfar Saba Keeper as Nimitzski Exit Looms
M.S. Ashdod, which has been relegated to the National League, has begun accelerating its squad rebuild ahead of the new season. The first addition was defender Ran Vatouri, who joined from Maccabi Herzliya, and another signing now appears close.
According to Sport Channel, Hapoel Kfar Saba goalkeeper Razi Abu Hamdan is on the verge of joining the Ashdod side from the port city. In recent years, he had even been considered for the backup goalkeeper role when the club was still in the top division.
Ashdod’s current goalkeeper is Polish keeper Kacper Niezgoda? Wait source says Karol Nimitzski, bought last summer for 250,000 euros from Darmstadt, but he does not want to play in the second division. The club also does not want to waste a foreign-player slot on a goalkeeper.
Nimitzski still has two years left on his contract, so Ashdod is unlikely to let go of its investment easily. He will probably be loaned out or sold if a buyer is found. Reports in Poland say Wrocław club Śląsk Wrocław is interested in him.
