Violence and Fights Persist in Eilat Hotels Amid Tourist Season

New footage has revealed a series of violent incidents over the past weekend in hotels across Eilat, where hundreds of thousands of tourists are vacationing. The videos show physical and loud confrontations occurring not only among teenagers but also adults in their thirties, taking place in hotel lobbies and by swimming pools. One clip captures a physical altercation in a hotel lobby witnessed by reception staff, involving multiple individuals including a woman trying to intervene. Another video shows a violent fight by a hotel pool during normal leisure activities.

An eyewitness described arriving with his wife to a crowded hotel where tensions escalated to the point that an older man fainted and required an ambulance. He also reported disruptive behavior by unruly youths who resorted to violence, with another woman fainting amid the chaos. Alon Kalfon, commander of the Eilat police district, confirmed an increase in hotel fights over the weekend, attributing the violence to a combination of factors including alcohol consumption, high temperatures, and a festive atmosphere that leads to friction.

The police have arrested seven suspects connected to these violent events. Some of the detainees had their arrests extended, while others were released under court-imposed conditions. Authorities emphasized their commitment to thoroughly prosecuting those involved to maintain order in the city’s hotels during the busy tourist season.
