Trump Launches Unprecedented Economic Campaign Against Iran to Intensify Pressure

Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced a significant escalation in pressure on Iran, unveiling what he called the "toughest economic operation ever undertaken against any country." In a statement posted on his social media platform Truth Social between Wednesday night and Thursday, Trump declared that following a military campaign against Iran, he now intends to impose extensive economic sanctions to deepen Tehran's isolation and force a new nuclear agreement.

Trump emphasized that no one had offered Iran a better chance to negotiate than he did, but the regime failed to seize the opportunity. He warned that the campaign would include unprecedented economic warfare and isolation, targeting not only Iran but also any countries or entities that assist Tehran in circumventing U.S. sanctions. Financial institutions, companies, airports, and government bodies aiding Iran could face punitive measures.

He specifically called for an end to oil smuggling, cash transfers, barter deals, ship registrations, and the use of shell companies, urging those involved to stop immediately. Trump urged U.S. allies to join the effort to isolate and defeat the Iranian threat, dubbing the initiative "Economic Invasion Day," likening it to the Allied invasion of Europe in World War II.

Additionally, Trump claimed that Iran's military capabilities have been severely damaged, stating that their navy and air force are destroyed, military facilities are in ruins, the currency is worthless, and the country is hanging by a thread. He said the economic campaign aims to complement military pressure and hinder Iran's ability to fund its activities and terrorist organizations. Trump concluded by asserting that Iran will never obtain nuclear weapons and described the regime as "on the ropes."
