17-Year-Old Dies in Ashdod Amid Investigation Into Suspected Drug and Alcohol Use
A 17-year-old boy from Ashdod died Wednesday evening at Assuta Hospital after being rushed there in critical condition. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. Authorities are examining suspicions that the teenager consumed alcohol and drugs during a gathering with friends prior to his hospitalization.
Initial findings indicate no physical injuries on the boy's body. Police emphasized that the investigation is in its early stages and all possible leads are being explored to determine the cause of death.
This incident comes amid rising concerns over substance abuse among Israeli youth. In May, reports highlighted a specialized unit at the Lev Hasharon Mental Health Center that treats teenagers aged 14 to 18 struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.
