Tel Aviv District Prosecutor Closes Sexual Harassment Case Against Former Maccabi Tel Aviv Coach Roni Dayan

The Tel Aviv District Prosecutor's Office has decided to close the investigation against Roni Dayan, the former coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv, after reviewing all the evidence. The case involved a sexual harassment complaint filed by a female taxi driver against Dayan. Authorities described the alleged offense as borderline in terms of criminal severity. Dayan was questioned by police and released under restrictive conditions. During his testimony, he stated that he had consumed a significant amount of alcohol and did not recall the events during his taxi ride home at 4 a.m., noting that the taxi was not equipped with cameras to record the trip.

Following the complaint, Maccabi Tel Aviv announced Dayan's dismissal from his coaching position. In subsequent statements, Dayan apologized sincerely to the taxi driver if his behavior caused her harm and extended his apologies to the club's staff and fans. He acknowledged that his conduct did not meet his personal standards and committed to learning from the incident and addressing such matters professionally in the future.
