Israeli Man Arrested for Planning Mass Bombing at Beersheba Nightclub
Abdallah Gargawi, a 20-year-old resident of Segev Shalom in the Negev, was arrested for plotting a mass terror attack at the Forum nightclub in Beersheba. During his interrogation, Gargawi admitted to planning to detonate explosives inside the club targeting people dancing there, regardless of their ethnicity. He described how he researched bomb-making on YouTube before attempting to create explosives using readily available materials like lime, sulfur, and charcoal.
According to the indictment, Gargawi joined a Signal messaging group discussing jihad and events in Israel. When the group was about to be shut down, he urged members to act but was told to wait. After the group disbanded, he deleted the app to avoid leaving traces. He also contacted ISIS supporters in Syria, seeking information to travel there and join their ranks. However, after police searched his home, he feared arrest and halted his plans to leave Israel.
In parallel, Gargawi decided to carry out a bombing attack in Beersheba using remote-detonated explosives placed in a car near the Forum nightclub. The indictment states he began planning the attack around February 2026. He faces multiple charges, including contact with a foreign agent, providing services or means to a terrorist organization, preparing for a terror act, training for terror purposes, and weapons offenses related to possession, carrying, and transportation.
This case highlights ongoing security concerns regarding lone-wolf attacks inspired by extremist groups. Israeli authorities continue to monitor and thwart such threats to public safety.
