Israel Imposes Total Ban on Security Exports to Qatar Amid Rising Tensions

Israel has imposed a comprehensive ban on all security-related exports from its defense industries to Qatar, according to a report by Channel 12 News. This sweeping halt affects not only future deals but also ongoing contracts signed up to five years ago. Israeli defense officials have labeled Qatar a "hostile state" acting against Israel. Previously, Israeli defense industries sold Qatar weapons, defense systems, cyber technologies, and air defense tools worth hundreds of millions of dollars, with approvals from the Ministry of Defense and the Prime Minister.

This move marks a significant policy shift in Israel's relations with Qatar and may not be the final step. Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, speaking at a Knesset press conference, criticized the political leadership for ignoring what he called the "antisemitic cancer" represented by Qatar, despite security warnings. Bennett has advocated for declaring Qatar an enemy state, a stance echoed during recent election campaigns by various parties.

However, Gadi Eizenkot, leader of the Yisrael party and former IDF Chief of Staff, urged caution, stating that such a declaration should be a serious decision rather than a political gimmick. Earlier, Bennett accused Qatar of responsibility for the October 7 attacks, claiming the country financed the assault and continues to host terrorist leaders in Doha.

The ban reflects escalating tensions and a hardening Israeli stance toward Qatar amid ongoing security concerns and political debates about how to address Qatar's role in regional conflicts.
