Israeli Air Force Officer Faces Charges for Betting on Attacks in Iran and Yemen

An Israeli Air Force lieutenant colonel is set to face charges of breach of trust following allegations that he placed bets on PolyMarket regarding military strikes in Iran and Yemen, as reported by N12 on Sunday. The officer is suspected of exploiting insider knowledge obtained through his official duties to make these bets. Unlike a previous case revealed in February, this officer is charged solely with breach of trust.

Earlier this year, another Air Force officer was charged with severe security offenses related to the gambling scandal. That officer was detained for several months and later released under restrictive conditions. The indictment accused him of violating fundamental confidentiality obligations and being willing to sell highly classified intelligence for financial gain. His actions were said to have posed a significant risk to Air Force pilots and Israel Defense Forces operational activities.

During his hearing, the earlier accused officer claimed that gambling was widespread throughout the Air Force and cited thrill-seeking and financial motives as reasons for his conduct.
