Ayalon Insurance Wins Clalit’s Massive Long-Term Care Policy Tender Covering 2.7 Million Insured

Ayalon Insurance has officially won the tender to manage Clalit Health Services’ group long-term care insurance policy, the largest of its kind worldwide, covering approximately 2.7 million insured individuals. The announcement was made public on Sunday, marking a significant milestone for Ayalon as it expands into the healthcare insurance sector. CEO Sharon Reich and Deputy Director of the Health Division Ozit Weinstein discussed the strategic importance of this win, emphasizing the company’s commitment to providing fair and professional claims management despite the sector’s challenges.

Reich confirmed that Ayalon was the sole bidder in the tender, which was conducted professionally by Clalit, and expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to strengthen ties with Israel’s leading health fund and its vast customer base. Weinstein noted that previous tenders with single bidders had not resulted in contracts, highlighting the uniqueness of this achievement. Both executives acknowledged the sensitive nature of long-term care claims, stressing the need to balance financial responsibility with compassionate service.

Regarding financial details, Reich declined to disclose Ayalon’s earnings from the policy due to confidentiality agreements. The company will earn income solely from management fees, independent of the ratio between premiums and claims paid. Weinstein underscored Ayalon’s responsibility to manage the fund sustainably, avoiding indiscriminate approvals or denials of claims.

The executives also addressed recent regulatory efforts that reduced insured rights to stabilize the sector, expressing hope that these measures would prevent future crises.
