Police Shoot Motorcycle Theft Suspect After High-Speed Chase Near Petah Tikva

A man in his twenties from Ramla was arrested following a dramatic police chase on Highway 40 near Petah Tikva after being suspected of stealing a motorcycle. The incident began when police received a report about the stolen motorcycle, prompting patrol units to increase vigilance. Officers spotted the motorcycle and signaled the driver to stop for identification checks, but the suspect ignored the commands and fled at high speed.

During the pursuit through Petah Tikva streets, the suspect committed multiple traffic violations, including running red lights and weaving dangerously between vehicles, putting the lives of officers, drivers, and pedestrians at risk. Police reinforcements joined the chase as the suspect continued to evade capture.

The chase culminated on Highway 40 near the Petah Tikva exit, where officers attempted to block the suspect’s path. Despite this, the suspect persisted in fleeing, creating a clear and immediate danger. Police were forced to fire targeted shots to stop the suspect and neutralize the threat. The suspect was hit and apprehended on site.

Medical teams reported the suspect sustained moderate injuries from the shooting. He received initial treatment at the scene before being transferred under police escort to a nearby medical center. Following the investigation, police plan to request an extension of his detention from the court the next morning.
