Amadou Sané Joins Hapoel Kiryat Shmona as Promising Talent from France

Amadou Sané, a 27-year-old Senegalese forward, has signed with Hapoel Kiryat Shmona, marking a significant acquisition for the Israeli Premier League club. Sané first gained attention during the Mondialito tournament, where he scored one of the fastest goals in the competition against Tahiti and finished with four goals. His performance attracted interest from top clubs, including Maccabi Tel Aviv, who offered him a long-term contract with an initial loan period. However, a higher offer from Belgian club Club Brugge led him to Europe at age 20.

Sané faced challenges adapting to European football, including injuries and climate adjustment issues, which limited his impact during loan spells in France's lower leagues. Eventually, he secured a permanent move to Ligue 2 side Guingamp, where he found stability and contributed with goals and assists before an ankle injury hampered his progress. After struggling to regain form post-injury, Sané decided to leave Guingamp.

Hapoel Kiryat Shmona quickly recognized Sané's potential, with club officials stating they knew within minutes he was the player they needed. His agent, Roman Havran, who previously worked with Israeli clubs Ashdod and Afula, facilitated the swift transfer. Kiryat Shmona has a strong track record of developing foreign players, having successfully sold talents like Seko Fofana and Christian Martinez for substantial fees.

Sané is expected to leverage his exceptional speed and physicality to adapt to the Israeli league, similar to other players who transitioned from France to Israel. Despite language barriers, the club's physiotherapist assists communication between Sané and head coach Shai Berada. With a strong preseason showing that included reaching the Toto Cup semifinals, Kiryat Shmona hopes Sané's pace and skill will help the team compete for a top playoff spot.

Last season, Sané averaged 25.3 sprints per 90 minutes in Ligue 2, with a top speed of 34.4 km/h, underscoring his athleticism and potential impact in Israel.
