Israeli Police Issue Urgent Flash Flood Warning for Dead Sea Area

Due to severe weather expected on Sunday, the Israeli police have issued an urgent warning to travelers and visitors in the Dead Sea region about the risk of flash floods. The Southern District Police, along with all its units, are preparing for heavy rains forecasted from midday through the evening, which could trigger flooding in the Judean Desert streams and the Dead Sea area.

Authorities anticipate significant disruptions on Route 90, particularly between Ein Gedi and Neve Zohar junction, where road closures are expected. Police officers from the Southern District and the Traffic Department will be deployed along critical routes to ensure public safety, manage traffic, and provide guidance based on weather developments.

The police urged drivers and hikers to plan their trips carefully, stay updated on weather conditions before departure, drive cautiously, follow police instructions, and avoid entering flood-prone streambeds or crossing flooded roads and flowing water channels. They emphasized the importance of staying away from flowing water sources and not crossing submerged roads to prevent accidents and ensure safety.
