Bereaved Prakash Family Responds to Sarah Netanyahu-Backed Protest Against Them in Caesarea

The Prakash family, neighbors of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Caesarea, spoke out for the first time following a controversial protest outside their home. The demonstration, which involved protesters cursing the bereaved family, was later revealed to have been organized by Sarah Netanyahu, the Prime Minister's wife. The family remained silent until now, marking 20 years since their son Tom, an Apache helicopter pilot, was killed in the 2006 Lebanon War.

Tom Prakash died in July 2006, shortly after his 23rd birthday, when his helicopter crashed during combat operations. His childhood friend Yiftach Krazner wrote the iconic memorial song "Million Stars" in his honor, which Tom's sister, actress Amit Prakash, recorded and was played at his funeral. The song has since become a national symbol of remembrance in Israel.

Amit described the song as a gift that immortalizes her brother and acknowledged the personal toll of constant public attention to his death. She also shared her struggles with an eating disorder and her journey to recovery, emphasizing her current happiness as a mother of two and a successful social media influencer. Amit and her parents, Anat and Doron, reflected on the painful experience of being targeted by the protest and the broader societal decline in respect toward bereaved families.

Despite the attack being orchestrated by Sarah Netanyahu, the Prakash family chose not to engage publicly or seek an apology, with Anat stating that Sarah Netanyahu holds no official public role and that they prefer to maintain their values and dignity. The family also recalled the traumatic experience of a drone strike near the Prime Minister's residence and the ongoing challenges of living in a politically charged environment.

Currently, Amit is starring in the musical "Chiquititas," based on the popular 1990s Argentine series, marking her return to the stage after years of personal and professional evolution. The family emphasized their choice to live with joy despite their loss, honoring Tom's memory by embracing life fully rather than succumbing to grief.
