Israeli Beach Volleyball Duo Advances to European Championship Round of 16

Israeli beach volleyball players Aylon Eleazar and Kevin Kuzmichov achieved a significant milestone by advancing to the round of 16 at the European Beach Volleyball Championship held in Poland. Representing Emek Yizrael Volleyball Club and Maccabi Tel Aviv respectively, the pair delivered an impressive performance on August 14, 2026, securing their spot in the knockout stages.

Their journey began with a crucial group stage victory over the Portuguese team of Pedrosa and Campos, winning in straight sets 21-19, 21-18. Later that day, they faced a tough German duo, Allers and Wust, in a decisive match for the round of 16 berth. After taking the first set 21-19, the second set turned into a gripping battle, with Eleazar and Kuzmichov prevailing 35-33 in one of the longest and most intense sets seen in recent tournaments, sealing a 2-0 match win.

Following the victory, Eleazar described the match as "crazy and full of emotions," praising the crowd's support and their own performance. Looking ahead, the Israeli pair is set to face a formidable challenge in the round of 16 against the highly ranked Norwegian team of Mo and Sørum, currently third in the world rankings, in what promises to be a demanding encounter.
