Tel Aviv Police Officer Fired for Sexual Relations with Woman Released from Custody

A police officer in the Tel Aviv district was dismissed after engaging in sexual relations with a woman he had released from custody. The woman had been detained at the station where the officer was on duty following a report of a suicide threat. After her investigation, she left the station and took a taxi home. The officer reportedly followed the taxi to her residence and later visited her again, where they had intimate relations. It is also alleged that the officer provided the woman with intelligence information about a person known to her who was suspected of drug offenses. During his interrogation by the Police Investigations Department, the officer claimed he followed the woman out of concern for her welfare and did not believe there was any wrongdoing in having an intimate relationship since she had no open police case against her.

Separately, earlier the same evening, the Police Investigations Department announced that a police investigations officer of the rank of inspector was questioned under caution in Jerusalem. He is suspected of sexually harassing and committing an indecent act against a woman who came to a police station to file a complaint. Following the investigation, the officer was released under restrictive conditions, including being barred from police facilities and prohibited from contacting those involved in the case for 11 days.
