Police Commissioner Fires Traffic Officer Accused of Sexually Harassing Drivers

Police Commissioner Danny Levi has fired a traffic officer suspected of attempting to initiate romantic relationships with female drivers during his patrols. The officer allegedly used his authority to stop women for traffic violations, then leveraged the situation to make inappropriate advances. The Police Investigations Department (PID) is investigating the officer for sexual harassment, abuse of power, and breach of trust.

In one documented case, the officer stopped a driver for a supposed traffic offense, warning her of a "costly ticket." During the stop, he inquired about her relationship status, complimented her appearance, and suggested he could let her go without a ticket if she "came through for him." He also asked her to consider how she could "come through for him." Although the driver gave him her phone number, the officer reportedly stated it was "not enough" and requested a private meeting, suggesting the encounter could be kept secret from her partner.

In another instance, the officer allegedly asked a female driver, "What will you give me so I let it go?" When she inquired if he was asking for money, he denied it and asked if she was single, implying romantic interest. The driver was also released without a ticket in this case.

A third case involved a driver the officer stopped and questioned about her vehicle's condition. The officer allegedly made sexually suggestive remarks and stared at her before ultimately letting her go without a ticket, claiming he was "joking."

Commissioner Levi stated that the three women, who are unrelated, reported a similar pattern of the officer attempting to establish personal or romantic contact while on duty. Levi determined that the officer's actions constituted an exploitation of his authority for personal gain, severely damaging police values and public trust, leading to his dismissal.
