US Ambassador Clarifies Settlers Are Not the Problem in West Bank Violence

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Herzog (Mike Hackbi) addressed recent violence in the West Bank, specifically following clashes in the village of Kusra. He emphasized that settlers as a whole are not the issue in the region, but rather a very small minority of lawbreakers responsible for significant harm to Palestinian families and Israel. Herzog highlighted that genuine settlers, including Israel Gantz, head of the Yesha Council, condemn the actions of these few individuals and expressed hope that media coverage would reflect this distinction.

Earlier on the same day, Herzog condemned the violent incidents in Kusra and revealed that the US Embassy was actively involved in the response. He stated that at the embassy's request, the Israeli Defense Forces and police intervened to remove the "Israeli terrorists" responsible for the attacks. Herzog described the perpetrators' actions as criminal, horrifying, and intended to intimidate and harass Palestinian families, calling their behavior disgusting and unjustifiable.

The ambassador's statements sought to clarify the US position amid escalating tensions in the West Bank, distinguishing between the broader settler community and the small group engaging in violent acts.
