Veteran Israeli Journalist Oren Nahari Dies at 70 After ALS Battle

Oren Nahari, a prominent Israeli journalist and broadcaster, passed away at the age of 70 following a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Nahari was well known as the foreign news editor for Channel One and the host of the current affairs program "Ro'im Olam" (Seeing the World). He was recognized for his expertise in history and international affairs and remained active in media and radio nearly until his death.

After the closure of the Israel Broadcasting Authority, Nahari continued his career as a foreign news editor and commentator for Walla! News. In his later years, he hosted the popular radio show "Shabbat with Oren Nahari" and lectured on history and geopolitics. Born and raised in Haifa, he graduated from the Hebrew Reali School and studied political science and international relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Nahari openly shared his personal struggle with ALS with the public. His final radio program aired in August 2026, just days before his passing. He is survived by his wife, Vered. Nahari was widely respected for his professional dedication and contributions to Israeli journalism over many decades.
