Rabid Stray Dog Bites Ramat Gan Resident, Authorities Urge Caution and Vaccinations

A stray dog that bit a resident near Yarkon Park, close to Ramat Gan, has tested positive for rabies. The incident occurred on August 9, 2026, when the woman was bitten by the dog, which was later captured and taken to a quarantine station. Health authorities confirmed the rabies diagnosis after laboratory tests.

The Ramat Gan municipality has alerted the public and urged anyone who suspects contact with the infected dog to immediately visit the regional health office located at 12 HaArbaa Street in Tel Aviv. Pet owners who believe their animals may have been exposed are advised to contact the municipal hotline or veterinary services at 03-6312222 for guidance.

In response to the case, the city's veterinary service will increase patrols in the area where the dog was caught to detect any other potentially rabid animals.
