Thirteen West Nile Virus Cases Reported in Israel, One Death Confirmed
The Israeli Ministry of Health and Ministry of Environmental Protection have reported 13 confirmed cases of West Nile virus since the start of the season, including one fatality. The deceased patient was hospitalized due to complications from the disease. Most patients experienced symptoms such as fever, rash, and altered consciousness.
Ongoing monitoring efforts have detected mosquitoes carrying the virus in several locations, including the Menashe Regional Council, Ramat Hasharon, and Eilat. Authorities are urging the public to eliminate standing water sources, use mosquito repellents, install window screens, and wear long, light-colored clothing to reduce the risk of infection.
The ministries continue to emphasize preventive measures as the virus remains active in various parts of the country, aiming to limit further spread and protect public health.
