Barcelona Goalkeeper Aaron Jakovishvili Nears Transfer to Almeria for More Playing Time

Aaron Jakovishvili, the 20-year-old Jewish-Hungarian goalkeeper currently with Barcelona, is close to finalizing a move to Almeria. According to reports from Catalonia, the transfer fee is expected to be between 2 and 3 million euros. Barcelona will retain a significant share of his future sale rights, estimated between 50% and 60%. Almeria, recently relegated and aiming to return to La Liga, offers Jakovishvili the opportunity to secure regular first-team minutes under coach Xavi Garcia Pimienta.

Jakovishvili spent last season on loan at Andorra, where he established himself as the starting goalkeeper for an extended period. Upon returning to Barcelona, he participated in preseason training with the senior squad and impressed during a friendly in Birmingham by saving two penalties in a shootout after coming on at halftime. Despite Barcelona's desire to keep him, Jakovishvili chose to leave to guarantee a central role on the field.

Following his anticipated departure, Barcelona plans to rotate the third goalkeeper position between 19-year-old Adr Er and 18-year-old Iker Rodriguez, both of whom will continue playing for Barcelona Athletic. This move reflects Barcelona's strategy to develop young goalkeepers while Jakovishvili seeks more consistent playing time at Almeria.
