Man Charged with Vandalizing Israeli News Studios to Coerce Apology Over 'Shde Yemen' Affair

Abraham Hadi from Ramat Gan has been charged with a series of vandalism acts targeting the studios of Israeli news outlets Channel 12, Channel 13, Haaretz newspaper, and the Ministry of Justice. The alleged motive was to intimidate employees into issuing apologies related to the controversial 'Shde Yemen' affair.

According to the indictment, at the end of July 2026, Hadi left a threatening letter outside the entrance of Channel 12's offices in Tel Aviv, warning of harm to company employees. He then threw two bricks at the glass door of the building. Earlier that month, he had thrown bricks at the glass doors of Channel 12, Haaretz, and the Ministry of Justice in four separate incidents to frighten staff.

The threatening letter included names of prominent Israeli figures such as former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, former IDF Chief of Staff Herzl Halevi, former Military Advocate General Aharon Haliva, former Defense Minister Ehud Barak, former Supreme Court President Aharon Barak, former Deputy Chief of Staff Yair Golan, Supreme Court President Yitzhak Amit, and former Military Advocate General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi. The letter concluded with the phrase "Divine justice will repay you."

The case highlights ongoing tensions surrounding the 'Shde Yemen' affair and the lengths to which individuals may go to pressure media and government officials. Legal proceedings are underway against Hadi for intimidation and vandalism charges.
