Man Indicted for Vandalizing Israeli Media and Justice Ministry Offices Amid Ideological Motives

The Israeli State Prosecutor's Office filed charges on August 12, 2026, against Avraham Hadi, 44, from Ramat Gan, for vandalizing the entrance door of Channel 12 News and throwing stones at the doors of Haaretz newspaper and the Justice Ministry in Tel Aviv. The indictment also states that Hadi spray-painted a threatening message on the wall opposite Channel 13 News offices in November 2025.

According to the indictment, Hadi acted out of ideological motives related to his views on the judicial system and certain media outlets. He aimed to damage the offices of media companies and the Justice Ministry building. Additionally, he threatened and extorted employees at Channel 12 News to force them to apologize for their coverage of the "Sde Teyman" affair.

The indictment details that in late July 2026, Hadi left a threatening letter outside Channel 12's offices warning harm to staff, followed by throwing two stones at the glass entrance door. Earlier in July, he threw stones at the glass doors of Channel 12, Haaretz, and the Justice Ministry on four separate occasions to intimidate employees. After committing these acts, Hadi attempted to destroy evidence by discarding his clothing.

He faces charges including extortion by threats, threats, intentional property damage, defacement of real estate, and obstruction of justice. The prosecution requested his detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings, warning that his actions indicate a rapid and dangerous escalation.
