IDF Chief Says Lebanon Is the Main Front, Other Arenas Also in Focus

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir met today with division and brigade commanders in the Northern Command and approved operational plans, while reviewing recent battlefield achievements. He praised the officers for their initiative, determination, and offensive activity, and said the army is continuing to operate in all arenas at a high level of readiness.

Zamir said Lebanon remains the IDF’s main focus, though preparations also cover other fronts. He said the operation in the Beaufort area is intended to disrupt Hezbollah, damage its underground and command capabilities, and deny it advanced firepower.

According to Zamir, the forces are acting with operational superiority and are receiving unlimited fire support from both the ground and the air. He said, “We continue to act proactively and offensively, deepen maneuvering where needed, strengthen defense and remove the threat from the residents of the north.”

Zamir added that every additional operational gain will help erode Hezbollah’s southern front and improve future security arrangements. Those arrangements, he said, will be determined through American-mediated negotiations between the political leadership and the Lebanese government.
