Man Killed in Ongoing Shfaram Blood Feud One Month After Surviving Assassination Attempt

Hisham Hajirat, 61, was fatally shot on Friday morning in Shfaram, a city in the Galilee, marking another victim in a violent family feud that has claimed 37 lives over three and a half years. Hajirat was reportedly shot by unknown assailants while inside his car at 5:31 a.m. Emergency responders found him unconscious with severe gunshot wounds and declared him dead at the scene.

Police suspect Hajirat was unintentionally caught in the escape route of suspects involved in the assassination attempt on his relative, Ali Suad, a 24-year-old bus driver, which occurred earlier on July 1. Hajirat was wounded in that incident but survived with minor to moderate injuries. Investigators believe Hajirat was killed because he witnessed the suspects linked to Suad's murder.

This killing adds to the ongoing blood feud between two families in Shfaram, which has resulted in numerous casualties despite various attempts to end the violence. Local residents expressed concern over the escalating danger, emphasizing the urgent need to stop the cycle of killings.

Statistics reveal that 160 people have been murdered in the Arab community in Israel since the beginning of the year, with only about 20 of these cases solved by police. However, there has been a notable decline in homicides recently, with only four murders reported in the past 32 days.
