Israeli Gymnastics Coach Charged With Sexual Offenses Against Two Minors
State prosecutors have filed an indictment in the Tel Aviv District Court against Yevgeny Yordanov, 51, of Kiryat Ono, who coached in Israel's artistic gymnastics national team. He is accused of multiple sexual offenses committed while he was responsible for two girls he coached, both under 16 at the time.
According to the indictment, the alleged offenses took place repeatedly between 2016 and 2020, both in Israel and abroad. Prosecutors say Yordanov used his position to rape one complainant, identified as A.A., and to violate her privacy and extort her by threats not to reveal what he had done.
The indictment also says he committed indecent acts against both complainants, including touching intimate parts of their bodies without their consent. He is charged with multiple counts of rape, indecent acts, attempted indecent act under aggravated circumstances, invasion of privacy, and extortion by threats.
The case now moves to criminal proceedings in the Tel Aviv District Court.
