That attack resulted in the deaths of Lieutenant Colonel Yuval Ezra and reservist Captain Benyahu Malat. An investigation revealed that the patrol was conducted without proper coordination with security forces, despite prior intelligence warnings. The probe also criticized the limited military response and coordination following the attack, while highlighting the bravery of the fallen officers and security personnel.
