National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir Opposes Lowering Speeding Enforcement Thresholds

Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has voiced opposition to the Traffic Department's recent decision to lower the enforcement threshold for speeding violations, which would allow fines for even minimal speed limit breaches. Ben Gvir stated, "I do not like this, and I intend to hold discussions with the Police Commissioner." The minister's remarks come amid scrutiny of his own driving record. Since obtaining his driver's license, Ben Gvir has been stopped 19 times by traffic police for various infractions, including driving without a seatbelt, running red lights twice, and using a mobile phone while driving 11 times. In total, he has committed 78 traffic violations over 23 years.
