Man Indicted for Threatening Bnei Brak Police Commander Amid Shabbat Protest Tensions

Moshe Cohen, 44, from Modi'in Illit, was arrested following threatening messages he posted in a WhatsApp group targeting the commander of the Bnei Brak-Ramat Gan police station. The threats came amid protests against public transportation on Shabbat along Highway 4. Cohen referred to the police commander with hostile language, including calling him a "terrorist Yuval Shavit" and stating "an eye for an eye, what they do should be done to him."

The investigation began after the messages were reported to the police, leading to Cohen's identification, arrest, and detention at the police station. The Tel Aviv District Prosecution completed its inquiry and filed an indictment against Cohen on Sunday, charging him with threats. They also requested that he remain in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings.

According to the police, multiple threatening statements were collected during the investigation, all directed at the police commander. The case now moves from the police to the court system for trial.
