Kiryat Bialik Deputy Mayor and Sons Face Corruption Allegations and Hearing

Yossi Azriel, the deputy and acting mayor of Kiryat Bialik, along with his sons Tom and Ben Azriel, have been summoned for a hearing amid suspicions of corruption. The allegations, spanning from 2018 to 2022, accuse Azriel of exploiting his public roles, including chairing the local planning and building committee, to advance his and his sons' business interests. The trio reportedly established a company named Ritav, which allegedly served as a vehicle to receive benefits from developers operating under the jurisdiction of the committee Azriel led.

The Economic and Taxation Prosecution informed the legal representatives of the Azriel family and their associated real estate companies that they are considering indicting them, subject to the hearing. Charges under consideration include bribery, breach of trust, and money laundering, each according to individual involvement. Investigations by the Lahav 433 unit of the Israeli police have been ongoing, focusing on the misuse of Azriel's influence and position to promote personal economic interests through Ritav and related entities.
