Petah Tikva Mayor and CEO Summoned for Further Corruption Investigation

Petah Tikva Mayor Rami Greenberg and the city's CEO, Yaniv Benita, were summoned for additional questioning as part of an ongoing corruption investigation first revealed in 2022. Both arrived at the National Fraud Investigation Unit (YAHACH) offices in Lod to complete their interrogation related to alleged misconduct predating the 2018 municipal elections.

Simultaneously, investigators from Lahav 433 raided a key municipal office in Petah Tikva last week, seizing documents and computer materials as part of a new probe into suspected violations of integrity and governmental conduct. No arrests have been made so far, and the police have not disclosed specific details of the allegations.

The police confirmed the existence of the new investigation and the recent questioning of Greenberg and Benita but declined to provide further information. Meanwhile, the prosecution continues to review the extensive case files from the longstanding investigation to decide whether to summon the involved parties for a hearing. This may be one of the final investigative steps before a formal indictment is considered.
