Givat Ze’ev Mayor Yossi Asraf was questioned this week by Lahav 433’s national fraud unit in a corruption investigation. Police say the probe focuses on suspicion of breach of trust, tax offenses, and misuse of public office.
According to the allegations, Asraf was involved in building violations at properties he owns, including apartments and a banquet hall that allegedly operated in part without the required permits. Investigators are also examining claims that enforcement against those properties was avoided, apparently because of his public position and ties to the local authority.
As part of the open phase of the investigation, police searched his home, municipal offices, and additional sites, and summoned other senior local officials for questioning. Authorities stressed that the case is still in its early stages and that none of the suspicions have been proven in court.
No request was filed at this stage to extend Asraf’s detention.
