Hapoel Haifa extends goalkeeper Matan Ambar through 2026/27
Hapoel Haifa has officially extended the contract of 30-year-old goalkeeper Matan Ambar, keeping him at the club for the 2026/27 season as well. The move, first reported by the sports channel, was announced on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Ambar joined Hapoel Haifa in February. Before that, he played for Hapoel Nof HaGalil in the 2025/26 season, including in the Premier League, and also had spells at Bnei Sakhnin, Hapoel Rishon LeZion and Maccabi Shaarayim.
He has served as the club’s backup goalkeeper and has made one appearance so far, keeping a clean sheet in a 3-0 win over Sakhnin, Hapoel Haifa’s final league match of the season. The extension means Benjamin Maccini, the team’s other reserve goalkeeper last season, will leave and look for a new club after being replaced by Ambar in January due to injury.
