Hapoel Haifa extends goalkeeper Matan Ambar through 2026/27
Hapoel Haifa has officially extended goalkeeper Matan Ambar's contract, keeping the 30-year-old at the club for the 2026/27 season as well. The move was first reported by Sports Channel and later confirmed by the team on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Ambar joined Hapoel Haifa in February. Before that, he played in the 2025/26 season for Hapoel Nof HaGalil, including time in the Israeli Premier League, and had also previously played for Bnei Sakhnin, Hapoel Rishon LeZion and Maccabi Shaarayim.
So far, Ambar has made one appearance for Hapoel Haifa as the backup goalkeeper. That outing came in a 3-0 win over Bnei Sakhnin, which ended the club's league season, and he kept a clean sheet in that match.
The extension means Benjamin Matzini, who was Hapoel Haifa's second goalkeeper last season and was injured, will leave the club and look for a new team.
