Israeli Health Ministry Urges Public to Donate Blood, Especially Type O Amid Shortage

The Israeli Ministry of Health and Magen David Adom issued an urgent call on Monday for the public to donate blood due to a significant drop in the national blood supply, particularly type O blood. Blood donations are essential daily for surgeries, childbirth, medical treatments, emergencies, and supporting injured soldiers in the field. The current shortage requires boosting blood reserves to ensure continuous availability for all medical needs.

Moshe Bar Siman-Tov, Director General of the Ministry of Health, emphasized the importance of regular donations and urged anyone who has not donated in over three months to come forward. He described blood donation as a simple act that saves lives and reflects mutual responsibility in both routine and emergency situations. Thousands of Israelis donate blood annually, and the ministry encourages more to join at Magen David Adom collection centers nationwide.
