Dedi Simchi Considers Leaving Benny Gantz as Likud Prepares Offer

Dedi Simchi is reportedly contemplating leaving his alliance with Benny Gantz, with the Likud party already preparing to recruit him. In a recent interview with Maariv, Simchi revealed that he has received attractive offers and secured positions from both sides, including fresh proposals from Likud just days ago. Despite these offers, Simchi emphasized his initial commitment to Gantz, aiming to promote national unity.

Simchi clarified that his partnership with Gantz does not imply full agreement on all issues, citing their differing views on the nature of the inquiry committee investigating the events of October 7. While Gantz supports a state inquiry committee, Simchi prefers a special committee with broader powers. Nonetheless, Simchi has framed his alliance with Gantz as a step toward forming a broad unity government, his primary political goal.

However, recent reports suggest that this partnership may not last until the elections, as Simchi might opt for a different path if Likud presents a suitable offer. Earlier this month, he did not rule out accepting a reserved spot on the Likud list and an executive role in the next government, indicating ongoing negotiations and political maneuvering ahead of the 2026 elections.
