Former Fire Commissioner Dedi Simchi Considers Joining Likud Amid Blue and White Uncertainty

Dedi Simchi, former Fire and Rescue Commissioner and bereaved father, who was placed as number two on Benny Gantz's Blue and White party list, is contemplating leaving the party to join Likud if offered a secured spot on its Knesset list. Simchi's doubts stem from Blue and White's declining poll numbers and the party's failure to form alliances with other factions. He has communicated clearly to Gantz his intention to continue his political career, even if it means doing so outside Blue and White's framework.

This potential shift comes just weeks after Simchi indicated in a Kan News interview that a joint run was forthcoming, stating, "When everything is finalized, we will go out with a formal announcement." At that time, he emphasized his goal to unify centrist forces, mentioning that additional figures, including Yoaz Hendel, were expected to join, though nothing was finalized. Simchi expressed a vision to change the prevailing political paradigm dividing the country into opposing blocs.
