Israeli Charity Distributes $5 Million in Scholarships Under Rabbi Sternbuch's Guidance

On Thursday, a significant event took place at the Jerusalem residence of Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch, a leading halachic authority known as the "Posek HaDor." The ceremony marked the distribution of $5 million in scholarships by the 'Keren Hatzalah' fund to heads of educational institutions who abstain from receiving government funding. At the start of the event, Rabbi Shlomo Yosef Waldman, chairman of Keren Hatzalah, presented envelopes containing the large sum to Rabbi Sternbuch, who expressed heartfelt blessings and emphasized the merit of Jews opening their wallets to support such important causes.

During the gathering, Rabbi Yitzchak Shlomo Bloya, the esteemed rabbinical judge of the ultra-Orthodox community, presented the names of donors to Rabbi Sternbuch, who warmly blessed them with success, good marriages, and scholarly children. Rabbi Waldman praised Rabbi Sternbuch's longstanding dedication to sustaining Keren Hatzalah and supporting pure Torah education institutions that do not benefit from state funding.

The event was held ahead of the yahrzeit of Rabbi Yoel of Satmar, the fund's founder, who established the system that annually distributes approximately $17 million. The ceremony included prominent rabbis, community leaders, and public figures, such as Rabbi Waldman, Rabbi Vovvel Ashkenazi, Rabbi Gedaliah Feigel, Rabbi Chaim Rata, Rabbi Bloya, Rabbi Simcha Anshin, Rabbi Avraham Bergman, and others. The heads of the institutions expressed deep gratitude for the vital financial support, which they described as essential for their continued operation and commitment to pure education.

The event underscored the community's commitment to maintaining independent educational frameworks free from government influence, with the blessing and guidance of Rabbi Sternbuch, reinforcing the spiritual and financial backbone of these institutions.
