Dan Illouz Prefers Yair Golan Over Ultra-Orthodox Ministers in Government

MK Dan Illouz, who left Likud to join Yisrael Beiteinu, stated on Saturday night that he would rather see Yair Golan serving in the government than senior representatives from ultra-Orthodox parties. Illouz made the remarks after journalist Amit Segal reminded him of a previous sharp tweet in which Illouz accused Golan of having "lost all moral hope" and opposed forming a government with someone who "incites against IDF soldiers." Illouz explained that his earlier comments were made "in justified anger" following what he called a "regrettable statement" by Golan. Since then, Illouz said, Golan has clarified his position. When Segal noted that Golan had not retracted his words, Illouz responded that Golan explained what he meant. Illouz added, "I say I prefer Yair Golan as Tourism Minister rather than Goldknopf as Interior Minister, Aryeh Deri as Finance Minister, and Gafni in his roles." Illouz was among the coalition MKs who opposed the conscription law and expressed strong opposition before ultimately leaving Likud to join Avigdor Lieberman's party.
