Israeli Military Thwarts Explosive Drone Attack in Southern Lebanon Amid Ceasefire

An explosive drone was launched Friday evening toward Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops stationed at the Ali Taher ridge in southern Lebanon. The IDF believes the drone was intended to assist approximately 15 militants trapped in an underground compound in the area to escape. The drone did not detonate, and no casualties or damage occurred. The incident took place during a ceasefire, constituting a clear violation of the agreement in place. The IDF chose not to publicly disclose the event and has not yet issued an official response, according to reports from Channel 11.

In the past week, the IDF detected several escape attempts by militants from the same compound, which is the last known location within the Israeli security zone where militants are confirmed to be present. Some militants were killed during these attempts, while others who were attacked managed to return inside. A senior IDF official acknowledged the military's desire to neutralize the compound and eliminate the militants. However, due to restrictions imposed by the political leadership following an agreement brokered with the Lebanese government and mediated by the United States, the IDF lacks authorization to conduct offensive operations in the area.
