Maccabi Haifa targets defender and attacking midfielder before training camp

Maccabi Haifa is working to tidy up its squad with a little more than a week left before preseason training begins, while also trying to offload senior, high-salary players. The club’s top priority is to add a center back and an attacking midfielder, with the goal of reaching agreements with two players before the team leaves for its training camp in July.

Several candidates are on the table for the defensive role. One is Munashe Garananga, owned by FC Copenhagen, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Hibernian in Scotland. The club is also considering additional options at the position.

In the attacking midfield area, talks have been underway since January with Karpaty Lviv midfielder Bruninho and Universidad de Chile midfielder Lucas Assadi. Another name that has entered the picture this summer is Brazilian midfielder Dudu, who plays for Nautico in Brazil’s second division.

Among the loan players expected to begin training with the squad is midfielder Itay Ehud, who had a strong season at Hapoel Kfar Saba. Several Israeli Premier League clubs are interested in signing him.
